Blogging For Beginners – Free vs. Paid Blog Hosting

There are a lot of different ways to set your wordpress blog, from free hosting to paid hosting. So just what are the differences and which one should you go with? Let’s take a look at both -

If you are considering setting your blog up on free hosting there are some key points you will need to be aware of. One important key point is that you are NOT in control of your blog and the content on it. You are very limited to what you can do with your blog and what you can promote.

The free hosting provider can put ads of their choice on your blog.  At anytime the free hosting provider, at their discretion can decide that your blog does not meet their terms of service and can delete/remove all your content. With NO warning to you!

Using a free hosting provider does have its’ benefits due to it being free for you to use. This is a great place to start blogging if you are a beginner. Get the feel of how it works and what you can do with a blog. But do remember it is free, and you get what you pay for :)

Now if you are really serious about blogging, then it is highly recommended you get your own domain name and hosting. This is not expensive to do and is well worth it. You can get a domain name for as little as $12.00 a year or less, and you can get good top quality hosting for just $9.00 a month. If you pay less than $5.00 a month for hosting, you might not be getting all the benefits for your blog.

Having your own paid hosting puts you in control of your blog, your content, and what you can do with it. There are no limits.

Take the time to investigate all your options and choose which best fits your needs.

If you insist on having free hosting I highly recommend Blogger.com they are easy for the beginner and you have lots of features some of the the other free hosting platforms do not offer.

If you are ready to get started with your paid hosting then I would highly recommend HostGator.com, with them you get everything you need to get started blogging!

Happy Blogging!
